‘Beyond the Tide’ conveys themes of hypervigilance, catastrophisation and loss surrounding suicide and its impact on families.

In the region with the highest suicide rate in the UK, this Northern Irish exhibition shines a light on mental health and suicide awareness, particularly among individuals over fifty—a demographic often overlooked in these critical discussions. The loss of three friends in this age group to suicide since 2016 has profoundly influenced the exhibition’s commitment to fostering greater awareness, dialogue, and stigma reduction through the narrative of its images. It also questions the level of support available to the families whose loved one’s lives are at risk.
